باختصار شديد، البرنامج يتمحور حول مقاربة مستندة للبرهان evidence based approach للداء القلبي الوعائي التصلبي atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. في الصفحة الرئيسية للتطبيق آلة حاسبة تقوم بطلب معطيات حول المريض (العمر، الجنس، العادات الشخصية، الخلفية الجينية إلخ)، و تقوم بحساب اختطار risk إصابته بداء قلبي وعائي سواء على مدى 10 سنوات، أو مدى الحياة. ليس هذا فحسب! بل يقوم التطبيق بتقديم التوصيات المنصوح به بحالة هذا المريض بناء على توصيات كلية القلب الأمريكية american college of cardiology، المعتمدة على المعطيات المتعلقة بالمريض.
بالإضافة لذلك: يقدم التطبيق للأطباء الممارسين جميع التوصيات المتعلقة بالداء القلبي الوعائي العصيدي atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease المبنية على البرهان evidence based، و مثلها أيضاً للمرضى بلغة مبسطة مدعومة بالرسوم الموضحة infograms.

The ASCVD Risk Estimator is published jointly by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) to help health care providers and patients estimate 10-year and lifetime risks for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) using the Pooled Cohort Equations and lifetime risk prediction tools. This app is intended as a companion tool to the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Assessment of Cardiovascular Risk and the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Treatment of Blood Cholesterol to Reduce Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk in Adults.
The ASCVD Risk Estimator provides easy access to recommendations specific to the risk estimates produced by the calculator. Additionally, the app includes readily accessible guideline reference information for both providers and patients related to therapy, monitoring, and lifestyle.
